Musings regarding the death of George Floyd
Scripture tells us that the throne of God is established upon righteousness and justice. Simply put that’s how God rules His universe
Some think of these two qualities as attributes of God’s character.
I view them as outcomes of His nature, His fundamental core of love.
To state it in the simplest terms, God always and only says and does that which is right. Right is never ambivalent.
Since God only and always says and does what is right, the outcome of His actions are always and only just.
The outcome is always fair, it is always equitable.
God is not impersonal.
God is always present.
God always cares.
The nature and character of love is always and only to seek the betterment of those who are loved. God seeks wholesomeness, joy, abundance, goodness, peace, blessing, hope for all humanity.
That life is found in Jesus.
“I have come that you might have life and have it more abundantly.”
God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit agonize as they hear an individual gasping out, “I can’t breathe.”
THEY WEEP.
There is NO righteousness or justice shown in the action of any man placing his knee on the neck of any other human being as his life slowly ebbs away.
It does not matter what that person did or did not do.
Such brutality denies the very nature of God and of His rule and reign.
It is an affront to the dignity of God.
It is an affront to the dignity of man.
Sadly, black men are too frequently targeted simply because of the color of their skin. The instances are too numerous to catalog. The history too egregious to ignore.
