3rd Report Fiji August 2018
It is Sunday early evening here in Fiji while it is Saturday late night Stateside. During our morning service we were reminded of the implications of Jesus being the Bread of Life or the Living Bread which came down from heaven. This has been the topic of our preaching for the past month. This is very timely in a country facing challenges to food production due to the current drought in the Western Region. Farmers have lost their entire food crop and currently have no hope of a harvest this year.
But there is no drought in heaven. No lack of eternal resources. No lack of the Life-giving presence of our Savior. And He cares about our physical needs as well, which is one reason TUtP has been working in Fiji over the past 14 years on both spiritual and physical fronts to bring Jesus into all areas of life and need.
After church I was blessed to have lunch with the daughter of the family I had dinner with last night. We had a wonderful conversation regarding what is going on in her life at present. She faces many challenges and choices. We had a chance to explore some of the decisions she is dealing with and to pray for Jesus to give her insight and show His love for her as the Bread from Heaven to feed her soul and strengthen her where she may be weary. I look forward to hearing very good things in coming months as she deepens her relationship with the One who loves her beyond all measure—who weeps where she weeps and rejoices where she rejoices. I love her like a daughter and have watched her grow and mature over many years. The Lord will keep her in His grace and peace.
I spent the rest of the afternoon catching up on emails, etc. Also had a Facebook chat with our Mexico team about the completion of the children’s center we are building in our compound outside Huejotzingo. Construction on our main center is virtually finished except for security bars on the 2nd floor windows. Construction on the kid’s club building should be done within a month. The septic tank goes in over the next two weeks. The concrete floor and wall plastering will be done before then. We need to install electricity, plumbing, doors and windows. Everything should be finished before the end of the year. PTL!!
Tomorrow I fly over to Lambasa town on the 2nd largest island. That’s where our beekeeping project is located. Will spend a week there meeting with our teams, doing some planning for a film we want to produce, and delivering fishing and diving equipment for the Kioa Island fishermen who are still recovering from a devastating hurricane.
I have been sleeping well once I get to bed, I am in good health and enjoying what the Lord is doing on this trip, which is mostly given over to logistics and strategizing for the future.
Thanks for your prayers and encouragement.
